Fixing rotated PDFs, once and for all

Why sideways PDFs happen

It usually happens at the scanner. If the paper went in sideways or upside down, the PDF reflects that. Sometimes mobile scanners add rotation metadata that some viewers recognize and others ignore—so your file looks fine on your phone but sideways when you email it to a client. It's a small issue that makes a document look unprofessional and hard to read.

Viewer rotation vs. Permanent rotation

Most PDF viewers have a "Rotate" button, but that usually just changes how the file is displayed *right now*. It doesn't actually save that change to the file. When you send it to someone else, it's still sideways.

This tool is different. It rewrites the internal metadata of the PDF. When you download the result, the pages are permanently fixed. They will show up correctly in any viewer, on any device, and even when printed.

Rotating the whole file or just a few pages

If the whole document is wrong, just pick an angle and hit rotate. If only a few pages are the problem—say, a landscape-oriented chart in the middle of a portrait report—you can specify those page numbers (e.g., 5, 12, 18) and only those pages will turn.

Rotation is always clockwise. To go 90° left, just set it to 270° clockwise. Use 180° for those occasional scans that come out completely upside down.

Safe and ephemeral

Your documents are your business. Like all our tools, rotation is handled on a secure server and your files are deleted automatically as soon as the processing is done. We don't store your data, we don't look at your pages, and we certainly don't use them for anything else. It's just a fast, permanent fix for a common annoyance.
