Planning Your Trip's Budget
Fuel costs have a way of sneaking up on you, especially on longer road trips. Whether it's a weekend getaway or a cross-country drive, knowing your gas budget upfront means fewer surprises at the pump and better planning overall.
How It Works
The calculation is straightforward. The tool takes three key pieces of information:
- The total length of your journey. There's also a Round Trip option that doubles the distance automatically — handy so you don't have to do that math yourself.
- Your vehicle's fuel economy, in whatever unit you're used to — Miles Per Gallon (MPG), Kilometers Per Liter (km/L), or Liters per 100 Kilometers (L/100km). All three are supported.
- The current fuel price per gallon or per liter in your area. Gas prices vary wildly by region, so you'll want to use a local figure for the most accurate estimate.
It figures out how much fuel you'll burn for the trip, then multiplies that by the price. That's your total estimated cost.
Who is it For?
- Road trippers who want a clear fuel budget before heading out on vacation.
- Daily commuters trying to get a handle on monthly driving costs.
- Carpoolers who need a fair total to split among passengers.
- Anyone curious about how much fuel a particular route actually burns through.
